Long Pond may not be first in terms of name recognition, but as this single cask bottling from the ImpEx Collection shows, their rums show all of our favorite things about pot still Jamaican rum:
On the nose, candied cherry, orange peel and orange marmalade, burnt sugar, ginger, black tea, a kiss of funk, and cinnamon all swirl together. The palate foolows through with more black tea, allspice, orange marmalade, bitter cocoa, and a tug of war between sweet and sour. The finish brings forward cookie dough, raisins, and a subtle but drying oak. All of these ride on a wonderfully oily and full mouthfeel, being bottled at a cask strength of 52.2% abv.
