Nowadays you can find fruit beers based on just about every classic beer style out there. Heck, on our listright now, we have fruit-tinged double IPAs, grisettes, wheat beers, porters, lambics, and more. But in our minds, the classic style that is perhaps best suited to fruit additions is the Berliner weisse. There's something about the simple, grainy, tart profile of the Berliner that creates the perfect base to allow fruity aromatics to really pop.
That's why we were thrilled when Mikkeller decided to launch their "Hallo Ich Bin Berliner Weisse" series, which is made up of Berliners with big quantities of different fruits added to each. So far, these beers have been huge hits, and the Raspberry, Peach, Cherry, Apricot, Pineapple, Mango, Passionfruit, and Blueberry variants have been extremely popular with our employees and customers alike.
And now, you can add Gooseberry to that list. We've just received cans and kegs of the newest addition to the "Ich Bin Berliner" lineup, and it's another winner. Tart, tangy, and a little wine-like, with lots of delightful gooseberry flavor. Check it out!
